Injection of Juvederm, which lasts less than an hour, allows to get rid of unwanted facial wrinkles and folds. The sterile Juvederm gels are used for correcting facial lines, wrinkles and folds, as well as for increasing lips. As Juvederm is a natural injectable filler with bioidentical hyaluronic acid, the possibility of an allergic reaction is minimal. However, the patients with allergies towards proteins and medications should maybe consider fat grafting.
Although Juvederm is a very safe filler, a small percentage of patients may develop temporary redness, itching, swelling, greater tenderness to pain or decreased skin sensitivity in the injection area, or changes in the skin color of the injection area. However, these side effects will disappear in a couple of days. In the case of a lip injection, the initial swelling may last up to a week.
The injected area shouldn’t be touched for 6 hours after the procedure. After that, light make-up may be used and the face may be gently washed with soap and water. Intensive beauty procedures, sauna and solarium should be avoided for a week after the procedure.
The final result will be visible approximately a week from the procedure, after the swelling goes down. The results of Juvederm will last for 6 to 12 months, depending on the area, skin type and injecting techniques.
